OVERHEAD GANTRY CRANE

A gantry crane is a structure used to straddle an object or workspace. They can range from enormous "full" gantry cranes, capable of lifting some of the heaviest loads in the world, to small shop cranes, used for tasks such as lifting automobile engines out of vehicles.

People credited with this unit standard are able:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.

  2. Demonstrate knowledge of radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane components, equipment, and attachments.

  3. Sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.

  4. Park radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane and store equipment.

  5. Carry out daily and weekly operator maintenance of a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
